SOP: Creating a Lead from a Contact or Company

To effectively create a lead in the lead pipeline from a contact or company record.

Objective:

To effectively create a lead in the lead pipeline from a contact or company record.

Key Steps:

  1. Open the contact or company record.

  2. Locate the option called "leads" on the right side of the record.

  3. If the option is closed, open it up.

  4. Click on "add a lead" to create a lead in the lead pipeline.

  5. Set yourself as the owner of the lead.

  6. Identify the stage of the lead:

    • Identify: When the lead is first identified.

    • Research: When researching the lead.

    • Contact: When reaching out to the company or contact.

    • Schedule: When a meeting or call is not yet scheduled.

    • Cultivate: To cultivate the lead for buy-in or donation.

    • Qualified: When the lead is ready to start talks.

    • Disqualified: If the lead is not a correct fit or for any other reason.

  7. Move the lead through the stages accordingly.

Cautionary Notes:

  • Ensure to set the correct stage for each lead.

  • Double-check the information before moving a lead to the next stage.

  • Avoid skipping stages in the lead pipeline.

Tips for Efficiency:

  • Keep track of all interactions and progress with the lead.

  • Regularly update the lead status to reflect the current stage.

  • Utilize notes or comments to document important details about the lead.
